Cabrini protester charged with battery: Allegedly hit cop with a milk crate

A front-page Chicago Sun-Times photo last week crystallized thetensions at a demonstration at the Cabrini-Green housing complex overa Chicago Police officer's shooting of a 14-year-old boy.

A protester was pointing his finger in the face of one officer --and the officer stared back with a smirk. The protester and otherswere upset Ellis Woodland Jr. was shot and wounded Aug. 7 after hepointed a BB-gun at an officer. The department ruled the shooting wasjustified because the officer feared for his life, thinking the gunwas real.
