Vic: Police will not widen files probe, Nixon
Victoria Police Chief Commissioner CHRISTINE NIXON says she won't be widening checksfor inappropriate access to police files of Liberal MPs and candidates at the last stateelection.
Earlier today Opposition Leader ROBERT DOYLE said Ms NIXON's chief of staff had agreedto his revised request of checks on the files of 30 MPs and 15 candidates.
But Ms NIXON says there's been a misunderstanding between Mr DOYLE and her chief of staff.
She says checks are only being done on five MPs from each party and at this stage they'vefound no conflicts.
But she says that if any hard evidence comes to light that files were inappropriatelyaccessed, she'll look into it.
